New boundaries

We finally did something that we should have done back when Peyton first started to move on his own--we put up a fence in our yard! There have just been too many times when we look away for two seconds and he just takes off toward the road. And even though we are near one end of our street (with a stop sign one house away), people FLY on our road. So Brad spent a day putting it up...and we are SOOOOO happy with it. Granted, if money grew on trees, we would have gotten a beautiful split rail fence or a picket fence, but it doesn't so we settled for the cheapest thing that would still serve its purpose. It's pretty much done, although Brad is still figuring out how he wants to do the gate. In the meantime, we have an old door bungee corded across the opening where the gate should be.

If you look closely at the big pine tree on the left in the last picture (no, not the big one across the street next to the sweet blue tarped garage), you will also notice that Brad gave it a major haircut. It was taking up a lot of our (tiny) yard, so Brad lopped off the bottom 5 feet of branches. It's amazing how little changes in a yard can make such a difference.

We tried out the new fence for the first time last Sunday by spending the day playing in the yard with the dogs and the kids...

It was so wonderful to actually use our front yard without having to worry about anyone running into the street! I envision lots more time in the yard this summer...

In other news, we went to the Plainville Memorial Day parade last weekend. The kids weren't too into it...

...and I spent the whole time on guard against certain Pop Warner parade members who were, quite literally, hurling candy at the crowds as hard as they could. We should have warn protective gear.

And on the work front...12 more work days for Brad, 16 for me. But who's counting?

Low maintenance? Inexpensive? Can still see your lovely front yard? Sounds like the perfect fence to us! Enjoy!!!

After I clicked on the pic of unhappy camper Peyton, I noticed Plainville's finest out for the parade! Yeah buddy!! :)
